Construction Updates

Construction Updates
The 2023 Street & Water Construction Project updates will be posted here. As always drivers need to be patient and careful in these construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation.

Update for Wednesday June 7th - Between the hours of 7am to 3pm the Shelley construction crew is still on Shelley Street proceeding towards Mandel Avenue with limited vehicle access. The intersection of Boeger Avenue and Mandel Avenue will have limited vehicle access.

Canterbury Project Details - the improvements include partial curb, apron, and sidewalk patching as well as a grind and asphalt overlay of the roadway. The asphalt base layer of the pavement is assumed to be in good condition so there may only a few areas where full-depth replacement of the pavement is needed. Some drainage structures along the curb line will also be repaired. Small sections of sidewalk will be removed and replaced to remove trip hazards.  Disturbed parkways and driveways will be restored after all paving work is completed.

Boeger, Mandel, Shaw, Shakespear, Shelley, & Burns Project Details - the improvements include the removal and replacement of all curb, driveway aprons, and full depth asphalt (down to the stone base) paving. The aggregate base layer of the pavement is assumed to be in good condition so there may only a few areas where the replacement or addition of stone is needed. Some drainage structures along the curb line will also be repaired. Small sections of sidewalk will be removed and replaced to remove trip hazards.  Disturbed parkways and driveways will be restored after all paving work is completed.

If the curb and gutter or sidewalk are being replaced in front of your home, be advised that you will be without the use of your driveway for approximately one week. You will receive a hand-delivered notice to your front door in advance of any necessary driveway closure with further information.  If you have a brick apron and curb is being replaced through your driveway, it is your responsibility to reset the bricks behind the new curb.

Important: If you have a sprinkler system, it is your responsibility to locate your sprinkler heads, using flags or wood lathe.  Any damage to sprinkler heads that are not located by the resident will be the resident’s responsibility to repair or replace at their cost.  If the sprinkler heads are located too close to the sidewalk, driveway, or curb being replaced, they can still potentially be damaged.  The contractor will only be responsible for damaged sprinkler heads at the sidewalk.  Damaged heads along the curb are the residents’ to repair or replace.

If you are temporarily out of your driveway, please note the following:

  • During working hours, please park away from those areas where the contractor is working; this will expedite their operations, and also minimizes the chance for inadvertent damage to vehicles.  After hours, and overnight, you should be able to park closer to home.

  • Please do not park within 50 feet of an intersection corner or a stop sign, and at least 25 feet from any fire hydrant.
