Air Quality Awareness Week Tabling Event
May 6 & May 10, 2024
GROW held two Air Quality Awareness Week resource events on May 6 & May 10 at the Westchester Fire Department's lawn, 10240 Roosevelt Road.
Attendees learned about air quality, its impact on health, and discovered ways to reduce air pollutants in homes and the community. They also had the opportunity to check out an Electric Vehicle and ask any questions they had about it.
For those eager to delve deeper into the topic, GROW had provided a link to watch the "Air Pollution & Your Health" presentation they previously hosted. The link included valuable resources, a children's activity book, and the Air Quality Awareness Week Proclamation signed by President Hribal: www.westchester-il.org/government/grow-ecological-commission-(1)/presentations.
GROW was excited to see the community come together for this important cause - let's breathe easier together!
Climate Action Museum Field Trip
March 15, 2024
GROW organized a captivating community field trip to the Climate Action Museum in Chicago on Friday, March 15. The group met at the museum for an exclusive, complimentary guided tour, generously hosted by museum Board Member Doug Farr. This engaging event served not only to educate but also to inspire and entertain attendees.
The Climate Action Museum, renowned as one of only six of its kind globally, strives to act as a pivotal climate awareness experience for Chicagoans from all walks of life. Participants had the opportunity to dive into immersive, educational displays aimed at encouraging actions to alleviate our current Climate Emergency and to forge a brighter, more sustainable future for the next generations.
This gathering emphasized the importance of community engagement in climate action and provided a unique chance for participants to connect with like-minded individuals committed to making a difference. This field trip is just one of the many ways GROW promotes environmental awareness and action within our community.
