Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, closed daily from Noon to 1:00 pm. Community Development is located on the east side of the building.
Building Department functions include administration and enforcement of the Westchester Building Code, adopted model codes, and ordinances. The Building and Permits staff also works closely with permit applications, to obtain code compliant permit submission documents, and with contractors, to build safe code compliant facilities.
Code Enforcement enforces codes in neighborhoods and in rental properties, ensuring that neighborhoods and rental homes stay safe. Code Enforcement staff also works with the residents to help them identify code issues, prevent blight and improve curb appeal in their neighborhoods.
The Economic Development & Planning Department is responsible for issues related to land use and development. The Department assists potential businesses with site selection services, provides information to the business community on commercial vacancies, demographics, community profiles, and property statistics. We strive to create a business-friendly environment so that existing businesses will choose to remain and new businesses will locate in Westchester, thereby creating a variety of goods and services for residents and businesses and ensuring the Village maintains a balanced tax base that creates sufficient revenue to provide for Village services.
Zoning Department aims to promote public health, safety and welfare of the community by guiding development of the built environment. The Planning and Zoning Division is dedicated to improving the quality of life of all Westchester residents, creating an environment that welcomes visitors and fosters new investment. The Planning and Zoning Division works with staff in other departments, other units of government, elected officials, board members and community members, to implement these goals.
