Permit Technician - Full Time

The Building/Zoning Finance Clerk assists architects, engineers, contractors and homeowners by providing routine and technical information related to the issuance of permits; provides technical information regarding routine building code requirements and ordinances; and assists the public in completing applications and other required forms. Determines and communicates costs for permits. Reviews permit application submittals to ensure complete and accurate documentation is provided. Advise customers of additional documentation requirements accordingly. Work involves the receipt, review, processing and proper routing of applications according to established department policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.

This is a full-time position in the Community Development Department, assigned to provide the public information related to building permit applications and inspection services.

The Building/Zoning Finance Clerk receives general supervision from the Director of Community Development and may receive technical and functional supervision from the Building Inspector. No supervision is exercised in this position.

Building/Zoning Document Management Clerk - Temporary 


The Document Management Clerk is responsible for preparing and scanning documents in the optical scanning equipment. Village Maintenance Person

 
The village is searching for an individual to join our team. Multi-tasking is a must. Job functions include but aren’t limited to the following:

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
Gather and empty trash. Clean, and supply restrooms. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks, clear debris from grounds, keeping Village Hall clean. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.

Public Works – Seasonal Laborer (Summer Only)


The Village of Westchester, IL (population 16,718) is seeking an energetic individual to join the public works team as a Seasonal (Summer Only) Laborer. The Seasonal Laborer is a position within the Public Works Department.  The primary responsibilities of this position are the maintenance of Village right-of-way property, operation of light duty Village equipment, and maintenance of underground infrastructure.  The position has specific responsibilities various duties including manual tasks as directed by the supervisor and may include work such as tree maintenance, brush cleanup, sign maintenance, painting, and property maintenance.

The position receives supervision from the Director of Public Works or his designee.  The applicant should have working knowledge of Public Works infrastructure maintenance.  Work activity includes frequent lifting of heavy objects of at least 50 pounds and the ability to drive and operate light duty equipment.  The position is primarily an outdoor position that requires working in all types of weather situations.  Much of the work related to the position of is performed outside in the public right-of-way. 

The position may require the employee to work overtime hours, at the sole discretion of the Director. The job involves the ability to competently perform multiple duties and tasks.  Employees in these positions must be willing to work with residents, elected officials, and various contractors.  As such, they must at times explain what they are doing and must have positive interpersonal skills.

The starting wage for this hourly position is $15.00/hr. A valid Illinois Drivers License is required.  Position is for the summer months of May through August only. Interested candidates should send a completed application form (available on-line) to:
