7.88.010 Definitions.

The term "mechanical/electronic amusement device" as used herein means any amusement machine or device which, upon the payment of a fee or the insertion of a coin, trade token or slug, operates or may be operated as a game or contest of skill or amusement of any kind or description. A "mechanical/electronic amusement device" is hereby further defined as any machine, apparatus, contrivance or device which is used or which may be used as a game of skill and amusement wherein or whereby the player initiates, employs or directs any force generated by the machine. The term does not include vending machines in which are not incorporated gaming or amusement features, nor does the term include any coin-operated mechanical devices. The term "mechanical/electronic amusement device" includes but is not limited to:
(1) Any mechanical pinball amusement device; or
(2) Any mechanical device which in its operation shoots or propels an electric light, ray or impulse to a target; or
(3) Any table bowling, shuffleboard or other mechanical table game or amusement device involving the propulsion of spheres or other projectiles, mechanically or by hand; or
(4) Any electronic tennis, ping-pong, volleyball or other electronic table game or amusement device which in its operation makes use of electronic circuitry to produce electronic or video images upon a screen; or
(5) Any coin-operated or coin-in-the-slot table amusement device or game.
The term "place of public resort" as used in this chapter means any premises wherein any service or merchandise is offered for sale to the public or where mechanical/electronic amusement devices are kept for gain or profit, or any premises used as a clubhouse or clubroom. (Ord. 82-1050 § 2, 1982)

7.88.020 Prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to set up, keep or maintain or permit to be set up, kept or maintained in any place of public resort any mechanical/electronic amusement device. (Ord. 82-1050 § 1, 1982)

7.88.030 Penalty.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not less than five hundred dollars nor more than two thousand seven hundred fifty dollars for each offense. (Ord. 03-1606 § 2 (part), 2003; Ord. 82-1050 § 3, 1982)
