Municipal Electrical Aggregation
About Westchester Electric Aggregation
Following the passage of a voter referendum on March 20, 2012, the Village of Westchester contracted with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. to procure lower-cost electric supply. All residents and small commercial accounts will automatically be enrolled unless they have already switched their ComEd electric account to an alternate supplier or are in a Residential Real-Time Pricing (RRTP) program. There is no enrollment fee.

Residents have expressed concern regarding the increase in companies soliciting them to change their electric supplier. Some solicitors will suggest you need to "sign up with them" to receive the Village's aggregation rate. Please note: this is not true; residents do not need to do anything to be included in the Village's aggregation program. Aggregation Program Rate
The rate for Westchester's new electrical aggregation program is 4.86 cents per kWh, a savings of 43% below the new ComEd rate of 8.5 cents per kWh. Residents consuming an average electric load usage for single family homes in Westchester may save $300 in the first year upon joining the program. The Village of Westchester's contract is for a term of two years.

Where will my bill come from?
Residents will continue to receive only one bill from ComEd and it will include the electric supply charges from FirstEnergy Services, LLC. ComEd will continue to charge for delivering electricity. But the cost of the supply portion of your ComEd bill wil ldrop significantly. This is a result of Illinois' deregulated energy market and new technologies that have lowered the cost of producing electricity.

What if I am currently with an Alternate Supplier?
Residents receiving electricity from an alternate supplier are advised to review their contract to determine whether you are subject to an early termination fee before enrolling in the Village's program. You can choose to enroll when the program begins or you may choose to wait until your current contract expires and join the Village's program at that time by contacting First Energy directly. Do not call the Village Hall to enroll.

How do I calculate my cost savings?
Now that you have completed your Municipal Aggregation program, youresidents should be enjoying lower electric rates. But we are concerned that many residents are not able to easily calculate their savings. Therefore NIMEC has created a new website to help our residents “see” their savings. It takes about 30 seconds to calculate your monthly/annual savings.
